We thought to start off the year with a few images from a fun birthday party we planned and coordinated in Johannesburg, South Africa. The children had loads of fun and so did we! There was so much to do; swimming, face painting, balloon sculpting and much more. There was also a Ferris Wheel for the children to ride and a magician to show some tricks! The space was decorated with the lego colors.

There are quite a number of apps available for weddings that are pretty awesome!
The Wedding Dress Look Book App – This was created by the Knot for iphone users; its lets you search through thousands of dresses and provides a listing of stores that carry the dresses. When you go and try on the dresses, you can also take pictures and share your favorites with family and friends!
The Tie Right App – The groom and groomsmen also need a bit of help with their ties. This app is offered by apple. According to apple, this app eliminates the need for a mirror and offers simple step by step illustrations on 6 of the most popular and handsome necktie knotes known to man. So men, don’t get frustrated trying to get the perfect knot!
Wedding Song Planner App – This app makes the wedding song selection less stressful and fun. This app sorts songs by genre, songs can be previewed by just a click and users can make a list of favorites and share with their fiance, DJ, friends etc.
These are just a few of the many apps out there. Make sure you take advantage of them! These apps are downloadable on phones and tablets which make it easy for you to use at anytime while on the train, at home, on a lunch break etc.
There are so many fun things to do during a wedding reception to keep your guests entertained. Some guests don’t enjoy dancing and are looking for other forms of entertainment. Receptions can be become routine and boring (a.k.a snoozefest); but you can make it fun!
One of our couples and their bridal danced to Thriller by Michael Jackson; it was unexpected and guests loved it. The couple and bridal party also had a great time!
Another couple played the shoe game; which was fun and allowed the guests to know a bit more about the couplecc Walpehotos
Other fun ideas include having a cool photo booth with props, lawn games during cocktail hour, a poet to perform, hiring an artist to draw silhouettes for guests or a live event artist, playing a game to give out the centerpiece on each table, hiring a celerbity impersonator, placing a picture jigsaw puzzle on each table for guests to figure out, finishing the reception with a bang (sparklers, fireworks, chinese lanterns, balloons etc.), having a tasting during cocktail hour for guests (cheese, cocktails, wine etc.), having a non-traditional first dance; the list is endless!
Remember the key thing is to PLAN for it! Don’t overthink, just have fun and all everyone will have a great time!
Mothers of the grand occasion are also very important!
“Recognized as the first in the wedding industry to make short dresses popular for bridesmaids, Siri is now known for truly, wear-again, fashionable bridesmaids and mother of the bride dresses for today’s stylish mothers who want chic, yet affordable dresses.”
The trunk show will be at Soliloquy Bridal Couture, Herndon VA from November 15 – 17, 2013. Receive 10% off purchases made at the show!

Many brides dream of their groom’s expression when he sees her for the first time in her wedding dress. More recently, First Look Photo Sessions have been a major topic of debate for the bride & groom, family & friends and even vendors. Some couples will not consider a First Look because of tradition, while others have stated that it was the best decision they made on their wedding day. There are benefits such as capturing the couple at prime time, not missing out on cocktail hour (yes, the bride & groom can actually enjoy cocktail hour with the guests) or having more time after the ceremony for photos with family & friends.
Last month, Lamide and Segun decided to go the non-traditional route by having a First Look Photo Session at the Willard Hotel in Washington, DC. The Willard’s imperial ambiance was the perfect setting for the couple’s personality. As Segun waited patiently with his groomsmen for his bride, Lamide was escorted by her bridesmaids to meet her groom. We will never forget the expression on Segun’s face when he first laid eyes on his flawless bride. The session lasted a few minutes, but the memories will last a lifetime.
Congratulations Mr. & Mrs. Oke!!!! We can’t wait for the professional pictures; the picture below was taken with an S4.
